About The Natural Diamonds I Have Selected For You

All of the above diamonds have proportions and angles which are required for AGS’ ideal cut grade. The American Gem Society (AGS) has developed a diamond grading system which is based on light performance. This is by far the most effective way of determining the cut quality of a diamond as the system takes into account the very advanced research conducted by both AGS and its sister organization GIA.

Whiteflash, Brian Gavin Diamonds and Victor Canera are among the best places to look for diamonds particularly if it’s to be a diamond with a lower colour and/or clarity grade.

Why?

They vet each diamond to make sure it is as close to perfect as possible.

Also, they own all the diamonds I list above and have them in-stock, in their inventory. This is a key element in their being able to fulfill orders in a timely manner.

From what I can tell February’s price increases in rough diamonds haven’t flowed on to the pricing of the above diamonds whereas jewelers that list diamonds held by manufacturers (Blue Nile and James Allen) saw an immediate increase in their natural diamond prices this month. This means it’s a great opportunity to buy a natural diamond either from Whiteflash, Brian Gavin Diamonds or Victor Canera.

Whiteflash’s A CUT ABOVE® is the the internationally recognized Super Ideal diamond found exclusively at Whiteflash.  Crafted with ultimate precision, these extraordinary gems are arguably the pinnacle of diamond cut quality, taking light performance to its ultimate expression. This is basically my blueprint for the perfect diamond. From every angle in any lighting situation, an A CUT ABOVE® diamond will shine, expressing the full beauty of the gem within. It will sparkle and flash no matter what environment you are in. Carry with you your own magical light show when you have your own A CUT ABOVE® diamond. Gathering available light these diamonds will always return more than they receive, representing not only the pinnacle of diamond craftsmanship but generosity and magnanimity. A strong contender for the most precisely cut ideal diamonds are Canera Ideal Hearts, Hearts & Arrow Diamonds. The creation of these incredibly beautiful gems begins with the selection of the world’s best rough diamonds. The diamond in the rough is then passed on to master diamond cutters who represent centuries of amassed knowledge of diamond cutting. The experience and skill of the polisher is further enhanced with the use of the world’s most modern diamond polishing technologies. After the rough diamond is polished, the stone is further inspected and only stones exhibiting ideal optical symmetry through hearts and arrows patterns continue to the next stage. The verification of Canera Ideal Hearts, Hearts and Arrows Diamonds is done through AGS Laboratories, which is recognized the world over as being one of the most rigorous laboratories in the world. Affirming its precision, Canera Ideal Hearts diamonds always achieve the distinction of receiving AGS Laboratory’s highest scores of 0 or Ideal, for Cut, Polish, Symmetry and Light Performance otherwise known as AGS 000. Victor Canera’s hand crafted ring settings are second to none. His philosophy is that a beautiful and precious diamond merits the respect of a perfectly crafted and high quality ring that is fit for royalty.

Lab diamonds have some unique issues with the quality of the diamond material in the lower colour grades so I generally recommend steering clear of colour grades below D-E-F with few exceptions. One such exception would be diamonds by VRAI. These are known for having warmer colours and would be my recommendation if a diamond with a warmer colour is desired. VRAI diamonds are all grown by Diamond Foundry which is a 100% certified carbon neutral company. They do not send their stones to a third party lab for grading but have an in-house grading GIA trained team of gemologists. A GIA grading report is an optional add on. There are many happy VRAI customers some of which I got permission from to post pictures of their rings in this article: https://www.diamondbuyingadvice.net/reddit-users-share-photos-of-their-vrai-engagement-rings-and-theyre-amazing/

The Selection Process

I assess diamonds for a number of factors. The diamond must have:

  • an AGS grading report stating the cut is of the highest standard or have the required angles according to the AGS cut guidelines to potentially qualify for AGS’ ideal cut grade;
  • good contrast
  • optical precision
  • the value I believe it represents;
  • must be deemed eye-clean;
  • how well it fits the brief.

I only include a diamond I am confident the recipient will absolutely love.
